Times change but God’s love is as real and needed as it has always been.
With the faithful participation of our congregations, we continue our commitment to advancing the work of Christ in communities across the northwest region of Los Angeles. From Lancaster to the Silverlake area, churches and New Worshipping Communities have very creatively found ways to provide meaningful opportunities for worship and Christian education. I can say without hesitation that in the last two decades, our churches have never put so much effort into reaching out to those suffering the most and seeking to bridge racial and socio-economic gaps in the name of Jesus.
As your Presbytery, we have worked hard to support several transitions during the last year by:
- Helping three of our congregations secure part-time pastoral leadership
- Joining our national church in giving coaching and support to five newly formed online-based Worshipping Communities, two of them in Spanish
- Implementing a one-year pastoral apprentice program that has resulted in placing candidates in two of our churches
- Giving grants to organizations in the Central Valley ministering to the unhoused, new immigrant and refugee populations
- Pursuing strategies to provide grants for our congregations, including leveraging church facilities to generate funds for mission in perpetuity
These are only a few expressions of what we, as a community of churches, are able to accomplish together. The faithful and generous financial contributions of each one of our churches makes this possible!
